The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked the return of Austin Cindric to promising form after having the worst season of his career in 2023. He made it into the playoff by securing a win at Gateway and showing some consistency. But he is now out of the chase, owning a disastrous Round of 12 performance.
In the Round of 16, Austin Cindric secured back-to-back top 10s at Atlanta and Watkins Glen, before securing a comfortable P13 at Bristol. He has the task of repeating the same on the next round but failed to do so as he scored finishes outside the top 30 at Kansas and Talladega. The No:2 team was in a must-win situation at Roval, but was only able secure a P4, causing his elimination.
While talking about the exit from the chase, the 2022 Rookie of the Year admitted that its really difficult to digest as they were really good in the regular season. He has now shifted his focus on winning races in the R-8, playing spoiler and is also determined to help his champion teammates Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano in the battle for the title.
Austin Cindric explains what caused his exit from playoffs
While previously talking about the elimination, Cindric pointed out that his team played all the cards right at Roval, but failed to get the win. They did everything they are capable of, but it wasn’t enough to compensate for the poor job they have done in the first two races of the round.
The young driver got eliminated because of his actions and now has to live with it. But he has a lot more to give to team in the coming four races, by going all out for the wins and helping his veteran teammates in the championship chase.
