Richard Childress Racing had big plans to get back to their glory days when they signed Kyle Busch for the 2023 season. Their progress was on the track till mid-way to the last year, with the veteran securing three wins. But since them it has been nightmare for them with each races proving to be a bigger disaster than the previous ones.

While veteran Busch was able overcome the constraints to a certain extent and was able to pull few solid runs. But his teammate Austin Dillon wasn’t that fortunate as he hasn’t won a single race since 2022 Daytona Coke 400. The 2024 season has been much worse for the No:3 Chevy team and as he was able to finish inside the top-20 four times this season.

His run this week at New Hampshire ended in massive disappointment as he got wrecked late in the race and ended up DNFing. While talking about the finish, Dillon admitted that his luck has been unreal so far this season. He highlighted how they started the race with an imbalance car and how he got caught up in Noah Gragson’s mess when they got the car fixed.

Our luck is unreal on this No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Off Road Chevrolet team this year. We started the race today with serious balance issues and difficulties going over the bumps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. We finally get rolling, we were going to roll past two on the top, and the No. 10 car loses control and we have nowhere to go.

Austin Dillon reckons he had a good chance scoring a solid finish

Before the wreck destroyed his car, Dillon was confident that he can secure a good result at the end of the day with the car getting better as the race progressed. He is confident that they can bounce back at Nashville next weekend.

Our Chevrolet was destroyed and it ended our day. It’s unfortunate because I felt like we had an opportunity to make up some ground and think outside the box on wet tires. We’ll rebound and head to Nashville Superspeedway next weekend.

It would be disaster for Dillon as a racer if he can’t secure some good finishes before the 2024 season comes to end. It would be interesting to how the year would playout for him and will RCR consider changing their drivers for 2025.
