The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Atalante witnessed a wild finish to race involving Austin Hill and Ross Chastain. The RCR driver was going all out to secure back-to-back win in the series, before the Trackhouse Racing Cup driver spun him out from behind.

Austin Hill’s ex-teammate Sheldon Creed took full advantage of the chaos to secure his maiden win the in series, ending his P2 finish curse. After the race, the media asked the Chevy driver about confronting Ross Chastain, he asserted that he has no plans. But he reminded the Cup driver that payback will come when the roles are reversed in the future.

I could care less to talk to Ross Chastain. I have nothing to say to him… Just as long as if the roles are reversed and I do the same thing to him then he thinks it’s fair game, right? If he doesn’t think it’s fair game then like what do you say? But as long as he thinks it’s fair game I’m all good with it. We can go to battle next time. Can’t wait.

Austin Hill told Matt Weaver.

In the same conversation, the veteran racer asserted that his car was strong and admitted that if not for some mistake from his side, he would’ve won the championship. He pointed out that he went a little too far out while on the lead in the race.

Yeah, I mean we had a really fast Bennett Chevrolet all day. There’s a few things that looking back on I could have done different. When I got to the lead off of two I might have got a little too far out.

Austin Hill added.

Austin Hill demands credit for not wrecking after the Ross Chastain incident

In the same conversation, the Superspeedway racing expert highlighted how impressive his save was after getting spun by Chastain. He was able to keep his composure, not wreck his car and get back on the track to finish P12. If not for the Trackhosue drivers’ uncalled for aggression, the incident wouldn’t have happened.

Yeah, I mean, what about that save, huh? The save was insane. I thought that I was going to be head on the fence there, but end of the race, you have to throw the block. And 32 drove through me. He has nothing to lose. He’s not racing for points or anything. I don’t know if I’m going to race him again later on, but that’s Ross for you.

Austin Hill said.

Despite the disappointing result, Austin Hill is happy with his team and the run he was able to make, alongside the save at the end. He admitted that another back-to-back win like in 2025 wasn’t meant to be for him in Saturday.

No, I mean we’re both going for the win. I was dead sideways there and I don’t know how I saved it. So that was a lot of fun. I had a blast tonight. Just wasn’t meant to be. Atlanta’s been so good to us and it just wasn’t meant to be this time.

Austin Hill added.

The No:21 team will get more opportunities to win this season, but they have to make sure their performance isnt limited to Superspeedways. It has been the main factor that has held back Hill from getting a Cup promotion and if he continues fail in regular ovals, his career won’t last much long with RCR.
