23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace is one of the most divisive racers in the current NASCAR grid. His inconsistency on the track, the superior limelight he gets over other driver are some of the reasons for the hate he gets on social media as well as the track. So, it was no surprise as Wallace was welcomed by a boing crowd at Briston this Sunday.
But Bubba Wallace had the great response to the fan reactions during the driver intros. He gave a shout out to the Tennessee Volunteers, the states very own star college football team saying, “Go Big Orange.” The Toyota driver confused the supporters with the move. Wallace has good reasons to support the team as his mother ran Track & Field for University of Tennessee.

The 23XI driver wasn’t the only driver welcomed with chorus of boos during the driver intros. His boss and Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Denny Hamlin wasn’t spared as well. Just like Wallace, the No:11 Toyota driver is also a controversial figure in the sport. Hamlin responded to the boing by just saying “thank you.”

Though it wasn’t a warm reception for the duo, it seems the actions from the fans gave them some good luck as the duo secured a top 5 finish. Wallace scored a P3 finish behind the HMS duo of Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. While his boss Hamlin ended up securing a P4 finish, just behind the 23XI driver.
Bubba Wallace insist his P3 at Bristol isn’t “good enough”
Despite securing an impressive P3 finish at Bristol Motor Speedway, Bubba Wallace is not happy. He did outperform the car as they came into this weekend expecting a finish just on the fringes of top-10. Though he appreciates the top-3 finish, he wanted to win races this season and play playoff spoiler.
I told Bootie (Barker, crew chief) that we are a seventh-to-12th place car, coming in here – and we ended up third. It is still not good enough. We have to go to work to figure out how we can be two spots better, but all-in-all – best in class in multiple categories. Just appreciate the effort. It stings, running this well when you are not in the playoffs, but it just makes you hungrier for next year.Bubba Wallace said via NBC.
The comments from Bubba Wallace shows the hinger he has and how much he wants to score his third career Cup race win. He got seven more races this season left to do it and it will be interesting to see how good he can be in these events.
