The NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway produced a mix of chaos and green flag racing. While Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar was the one that caused the wildest moments and radio rants, it was 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace that caused the biggest wreck of the day that took out around seven cars.

On the 184th lap of the race, Bubba Wallace was racing behind his rookie teammate Riley Herbst with his close friend Daniel Suarez behind him. The No:35 Toyota blocked the No:23 Toyota on the outside lane, forcing him move inside that them made the No:99 Trackhouse Racing Chevy to hit the break to slow down, as he found himself in the wrong spot.

This caused a chain reaction, as Suarez failed to cold his car steady, made contact with Todd Gilliland, and went onto collect multiple drivers, producing a serious wreck. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ty Gibbs, Hass Factory’s teams’ Cole Custer, JJ Yeley, Rick Ware Racing’s Cody Ware and Zane Smith was collected in the incident.

The incident cost Surez the most, as he was defending winner at the venue, as he secured an impressive win last year in a photo finish. With his and the teams recent form being down, Superspeedways seemed to his best shot at securing a playoff spot.

Daniel Suarez takes the blame for the incident

In his post-race interview, Daniel Suarez shared his feelings about the incident and apologized to his team. He asserted that him and his spotter should have done a better job at the moment, instead of putting themselves in a tough spot.

I think that’s on me and my spotter, we have to do a better job in those situations. Overall, we just put ourselves in bad situations throughout the race. The car wasn’t handling the way I was hoping. We’ll have to see what we can do better next time.

Daniel Suarez said.

The No:99 team has to work better on giving their Mexican American driver a better car in the coming races and the star racer should work on racing upfront instead getting himself caught in tough situations. It would be interesting to see how he would perform in the remaining races of the season.
