During the racing event at the Kern Raceway, the race was red-flagged on Lap 16, and all drivers and fans stood in a moment of silence. The 16th lap was chosen as it was the number that Greg Biffle donned on his racing car and wore the number as a badge of honor. The commentators also read the long list of achievements that Biffle achieved over his long career in motorsports over the years.
