Spire Motorsports’ young NASCAR sensation Carson Hocevar is becoming the face of the sport among casual and non-motorsports fans in the USA. He was recently invited to the Met Gala and last week also attended the Time Magazine Gala after getting named as one of the 100 most influential athletes of the year. Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin also made the list as 23XI Racing co-owners.
The No:77 Chevy driver was over the moon about the opportunity as he got to meet some great sportspersons, including NBA legend LeBron James. He bragged about it by posting an image on social media and talking about to the media. His comments show it was really a fanboy moment for racer, who grew up watching the legend dominate the league.
It was fun. Yeah, there was a lot of cool people. LeBron walked by, and I was like, ‘Man, should I get a photo?’ And then I was like, ‘No.’…I walked over, and he was outside the table and everything, and so I sat at a table far away from him. And some guy came up to ask for a seat, and he happened to know who I was, and I knew him. He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m taking this seat over to LeBron, why don’t you walk over?’
Carson Hocevar said ahead of North Wilkesboro weekend.
The Spire driver was initially seated away from the veteran but had the opportunity to walk over to the legend’s table with the help from a mutual acquaintance. He used the opportunity to take a photo with LeBron James and had a good conversation. Carson Hocevar also revealed that the ex-LA Lakers player recognized him and talked his trainer about him being an upcoming racer in Charlotte.
I walked over, and you could tell his security guards just started to swarm in. All of a sudden, the guy put his hand up. That’s when LeBron stood up, took his glasses off, and then we talked for a while. I was like, ‘Man, I got to get a photo.’ So, it was cool…. Yeah, he mentioned that his trainer, his kid races and is starting to get into big cars and stuff in Charlotte.
Carson Hocevar added, as reported by On3.com.
Carson Hocevar shared details about conversation with Prince Hary
The Chevy driver also took a photo with Prince Hary, but didn’t have a long conversation with him as they met very late in the event. He asked for a photo, mention how his mother would love to see it happen, as she seems to someone that follows pop-culture more. The racer made the same observation last time, as he made his mom proud by attending the Met Gala this year.

No, LeBron and I actually had a conversation. Prince Harry, I went over to him real late, and I just kind of introduced myself to him. He asked what my name was. We said about three words. I was like, ‘Man, you’re going to make my mom’s day if I get a photo with you.’ He laughed. After the photo, he’s just like, hopefully I did your mom proud or whatever and made her day. So no, that one was short. But LeBron was the longest conversation I had.
Carson Hocevar said.
The comments from the young driver shows he had a night to remember at the Gala, as the only NASCAR driver to be there, considering Hamlin attended as an owner. It would be interesting to see how the growing stardom of the star driver is going to help the sport grow among the young generation in the coming years.
