The NASCAR cup Series race at Pocono saw a last stage wreck that featured over eight cars. It was caused by a tussle between Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch and Spire Motorsports driver Corey LeJoie. With just 40- laps left in the race, Busch was hooked from the left by the No:7 Chevy sending him sliding through the infield grass.

Kyle Busch then slide back into the track and collected multiple drivers including the likes of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., AJ Allmendinger and Harrison Burton. One driver who should have found himself in a similar situation during the wreck was Corey LeJoie’s teammate Carson Hocevar. But the young driver pulled of stunning move to avoid getting collected.

Hocevar was the first one that would have got collected when Kyle Busch came back into the track. But the incident was avoided by the No:77 chevy driver by making a hard left turn to avoid hitting the No:8 Chevy. He kept his cool and kept his Spire car on the track as it was almost spinning out to the infield grass.

He went onto finish P17 in the race, a comeback to his top-20 streaks after missing out on one the week before at Chicago, which ended his five-race streak. Hocevar has shown impressive consistency in the recent races and would be hoping that it will continue as he is chasing the rookie of the award challenging Josh Berry.

Corey LeJoie asserts he wasn’t to blame for the big wreck that almost took out Carson Hocevar

While talking about the incident to the media after the race, Corey LeJoie asserted that he didn’t do anything wring at the moment and it wasn’t a bonehead move from him. He blamed it on Kyle Busch trying to block him twice and making contact with him.

The 7 team hasn’t had a great year, the 8 team hasn’t had a great year, so any time the day doesn’t finish how you want to you’re going to be frustrated and I understand. I’m sure he’s mad. I’m sure there were guys that got caught up that was made, but I didn’t feel like it was a bonehead move. I had a run, I got to the left rear, he blocked it twice, and the second time it spun his ass out.

The 2024 season so far has been different stories for LeJoie and Hocevar. The youngster is thriving while his veteran teammate is struggling to match 2023 performance. The impressive runs by the rookie might inspire the No:7 Chevy driver produce more solid runs in the series.
