The discussion around the double has yet again started in NASCAR following the announcement that Katherine Legge will attempt it this season, with Live Fast Motorsports and A.J. Foyt Motorsports. Kyle Larson was the last Cup driver to attempt racing at Indy 500 and Coke 600 the same day (2024 and 2025).

The biggest upcoming star of the sport, Carson Hocevar, was recently asked about potentially doing the same the 2025 Cup champion failed to pull off. He admitted that he is hoping race in the track in an open wheel car one day. But one major challenge ahead of him is the fact that unlike the HMS racer, he is a 6 foot 4 individuals.

No, not yet. I’m hoping… I’m short torso, so I don’t know if that helps or hurts me.

Carson Hocevar told FS1.

The IndyCar challengers are not made for big guys like Carson Hocevar, and even if he fits inside the car, his head being too height might be a major risk. He and his entourage is looking into this issue and even taking some measurement. Drivers’ height and weight play a significant role in the overall performance of the cars in the open-wheel scene.

But I feel like if my head’s too high that’s a big problem. But if I can shimmy it and get myself up I’d be OK. We’ve already been doing redneck science measurements trying to understand if I can even sit in one.

Carson Hocevar added.

Carson Hocevar some goals and challenges ahead of him before racing at Indy 500

In the interview, he was told that he could just ask Dan Towriss, the CEO of TWG Motorsports to get him an opportunity. He joked that for that to happen he needs to first convince Mrs. Towriss and added that he would love to have the opportunity to race win them.

Well, I was just down there. Realistically I just need to convince (his wife) Cassidy and then she’ll convince Dan. I was with Cass. But they’re great. I mean I would absolutely love to do it one day and enjoy it.

Carson Hocevar said.

But before making the move, he has a lot of goals to achieve in the NASCAR side. He wants to add a Brickyard 400 win and more Cup wins to his resume, which only has the Talladega Cup win in the elite division at the moment. But that doesn’t mean he will say no to an opportunity if it comes early.

But I want to win the Brickyard 400 and win some more Cup races. If they’re ahead on the timeline I wouldn’t say no.

Carson Hocevar added.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point, shows his maturity as he knows he has to achieve more as a NASCAR driver before venturing into other series. It would help him to expand his legacy and attract more sponsors. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming days.
