Chase Briscoe is enjoying an extremely eventful season so far in 2025. The JGR driver has picked up three race wins this year, with one of them coming in the Round of 8 qualifiers at Talladega. Briscoe is now among the final four drivers who will battle it out for the championship win at Phoenix. As such, amid the #19 driver’s positive results, his crew chief, James Small, has christened JGR with an impressive title.
Notably, Chase Briscoe isn’t the only driver at JGR who is performing much better than the rivals. The veteran Denny Hamlin remains the winningest driver in the 2025 season, as he, too, has clinched his spot in the Championship-4. Hence, following Briscoe’s stellar win at the YellaWood 500 at Talladega, his crew chief, James Small, has talked highly about not only the #19 crew but Joe Gibbs Racing as a whole.
Chase Briscoe’s weekend at Talladega started off strong after he qualified in P2 and managed to ultimately win the race and achieve a glorious finish. Speaking on JGR’s outing in the 2025 season, Small insisted that he never lost faith in himself and the team throughout the year. Regardless of a performance slump mid-way through the year, he was confident in the team’s capabilities to rise through it all and win races.
James Small continued that he always had the support of the people at JGR as they made the best of the opportunities available to them. Small shed attention to the fact that since the Kansas and Charlotte races, JGR was consistently the best team in the entire series. He added that the team scored the most amount of points, pole finishes, and race wins since then, and were now looking to give it their all at the championship finale in Phoenix.
I never lost belief in myself or my team, I always had the support of everybody back at JGR. I knew if we had this opportunity, it was going to take a little bit, but we were going to be a force to be reckoned with. I think you’ve seen that since Kansas (and) Charlotte. We’re consistently, in my opinion, the best team in the series. We scored more points than anybody, more poles, had the most points in the playoffs here. Now we’re going to Phoenix.

Chase Briscoe reveals the ‘whole reason’ he won the YellaWood 500
Chase Briscoe’s performance throughout the race was impressive, but his race win wouldn’t have come without his teammate, Ty Gibbs‘ help at the final stages of the race. Gibbs sabotaged his own race just to help Briscoe achieve the race win and ultimately lock his position in the Championship-4. As such, the #19 driver credited the 23-year-old and hailed him as the whole reason for the former’s race win.

Chase Briscoe pointed out that Ty Gibbs was committed to him throughout the race and helped him move up the pecking order. Gibbs kept Briscoe tight on the track and helped him battle with Bubba Wallace so as not to lose track position. The 30-year-old revealed that the youngster could have fought his own race and gone for the race win, but he selflessly pushed the former on track and helped him achieve the race win.
Ty was the whole reason I won the race, He was extremely committed to me from the get-go. Really did a good job of keeping me up tight to Bubba so I could keep pushing him along. When I made a move, Ty went with me. Was selfless in the fact that he’s going for his first win, could have easily tried to make a move, did something different. He pushed me to the win. An incredible team effort.
Chase Briscoe asserted.
Certainly, Joe Gibbs Racing is enjoying the 2025 season so far, as both of its drivers have made it into the Championship-4. Now, the two remaining spots are to be filled as Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell currently seem to be the favorites to make the cut. Time will tell how Chase Briscoe fares in his maiden championship-4 race.
