Christopher Bell came into the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire with the hopes continuing his fine for and secure a third win of the 2024 season. But a mistake from him during the pre-race press conference made it a nightmare for him as he accidently confirmed who will replace Martin Truex Jr. in the No:19 car in 2025.
The No:20 Toyota driver revealed that as rumored over the last few weeks, Stewart Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe will join the team next year. This accidental revelation ruined all the plans JGR had for the official announcement. Now 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott while talking about admitted that he it was honest mistake for him and he feels bad for it.
Chase Elliott heard about Christopher Bell mentioning “Chase” (meaning Chase Briscoe) joining Joe Gibbs Racing next season. Elliott laughed and clarified to anyone wondering that it’s not him, he feels bad for Bell and happy for Briscoe. pic.twitter.com/FVjPUPGVeG

I guess I’m headed now to go drive for JGR now, too. I don’t think so. If I am I didn’t know about it. But I felt bad for Bell, such an honest mistake you could tell. It was such a genuine, he just slipped up.Christopher Bell told Bob Pockrass.
While further talking about the point, he admitted that he is really excited abut the JGR seat Briscoe is getting. But he is sad as Bell got caught in this mess and asserted that anyway the news was coming out eventually.
So, excited for Briscoe though. I think that will be a really good opportunity for him. Hate that Bell was the one to break the news, I’m sure he got in trouble for that. It’s all good, it was going to come out eventually.Christopher Bell added.
Chase Elliott and Rick Hendrick had some fun over it
Hendrick Motorsports boss Rick Hendrick also joked about the situation as he sent Elliott social media posts with the No:9 Chevy drivers name instead of Briscoe and had a laugh about it. It seems the HMS driver really had fun about it.
Yeah, I heard about that. It was funny, the boss actually sent me a message … it was all kinds of stuff. He sent me this screenshot that I was leaving and going somewhere else and was going to own a team. Been all kinds of stuff, evidently, going on that I didn’t know I was doing this week.Christopher Bell said.
Jokes aside Joe Gibbs’ employees now have to come up with some new ideas to make the official announcement of Chase Briscoe. It would be interesting see how they would approach the situation considering the current mess.
