The 2025 NASCAR Cup Season marked the return of Chase Elliott to being the consistent racer he is after two years average runs that started with his snowboarding accident. He ended the 2025 season with two wins, 11 top-5s, 19 top-5s and an average finish of 12.61, the second best of the year and better than his championship winning teammate Kyle Larson.

In a recent interview, Chase Elliott shared his thoughts on the 2025 season and how he rates it. He admitted that it was a good year, but wasn’t great, as they could’ve been more consistent. It the right assessment considering his teammate Kyle Larson is the title winner and other teammate William Byron was the regular season champion, who also made it into the final four unlike hm/

I think for us, it was okay at times, and really solid at times, but it just wasn’t great. We’ve had some high spots here or there but certainly not as consistently doing that as what we would like.

Chase Elliott said via motorsport.com.

Furthermore, the veteran asserted that his major challenge in the 2025 season has been qualifying. His average dropped from 11.1 to 16.1, and its major factor he is focussed about for the upcoming year. He pointed out that the improvement the No:9 team showed towards the end of the season gives him confidence.

The qualifying thing certainly has been a huge point of emphasis, throughout the course of the season. I felt like we gained on that the last couple of months. We were way more competitive in that regard.

In the same conversation, Chase Elliott admitted that his best performance of the season was the last one and half month. In the last six races of the year, he won one, and finished inside the top-10 in four events. If not for a disappointing P40 finish at Talladega, he would’ve made it into the finale. But regardless he is happy with the momentum he had in the last stretch.

I feel like some of our best performances all year really came in the last month and a half or so, which was nice. It’s always fun to end the season in a good spot.

Chase Elliott asserted.

Chase Elliott isn’t satisfied with improvement yet

Further talking about the point, the Hendrick Motorsports Chevy driver admitted that he isn’t satisfied with the number high spots he had in 2025. This because of his competitor mentality as he understands his team has the potential to deliver better results.

There was a few high spots in there, which is always great. I think as a competitor, at least for me, I’m always looking for more. I don’t think I’m ever satisfied even on those good days. I see so much potential in our team

Chase Elliott said.

Furthermore, he admitted that it’s might not be a positive mentality always expect and demand more from his team, hence gives credit where its’ due. At the same time he is determined to not stop questioning as he understands the importance of always aspiring to do better.

I might not have the most positive way of looking at things a lot of days, but I also try and give credit where it’s due, and also grade myself and our team honestly in those moments as well. We have a lot of things that we need to do better, no question.

Chase Elliott added.

The comments from the veteran shows his championship mentality, something he needs to make a come back to the elite form that earned him the title back in 2020. It would be interesting to see how the No:9 Chevy team is going to perform in the upcoming 2026 season.
