23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace had disappointing week last week during the Chicago Street race. He had a strong qualifying and found himself in a strong position to score a solid finish. But an early race clash with HMS’s Alex Bowman ruined his race. The Toyota driver took revenge by door slamming the Chevy driver during the cool down lap while he was celebrating race win.
NASCAR wasn’t pleased with Bubba Wallace’s action and decided to fine him despite even Alex Bowman coming to the 23XI driver’s defence. He was fined $50,000 because the No:48 Chevy’s window net was down during the hit. Now Chase Elliott, who is teammate of Bowman and close friends with Wallace has given his verdict on the incident.

He pointed out that the Toyota driver shouldn’t have been fined for the incident. Elliott pointed out that it was an unfortunate incident arose because of the 23XI driver getting frustrated about how the race overall played out for him. He feels, jus like ex-NASCAR racer Rick Mast, that the incident was no big deal.
I don’t really think he should have been fined. I understand. I get it, but man you’re getting in the weeds with some of that stuff. Nobody was hurt and it was unfortunate, I guess, just the circumstances and Alex having won the race and things of that nature. But I didn’t see it to be a huge deal.Chase Elliott told Fox Sports.
Chase Elliott dresses his clash last week with Daniel Suarez
The Wallace-Bowman clash incident wasn’t the only incident of the night. Chase Elliott himself was involved in a clash of his own. He bumped Daniel Suarez during the cool down lap for a clash they had on the final corner of the race.
Elliott talking about the same pointed out that the didn’t really made contract and just rubbed the doors. He also pointed out that their door bumping wasn’t similar to the one of Wallace that got him a fine.
I honestly didn’t really think about it, because we barely rubbed doors. At the very best that was all the contact that we made. I haven’t studied Bubba’s situation in great detail, but I personally view it from what I have seen quite a bit differently, in my opinion.Chase Elliott said.
NASCAR had also reviewed the Chase Elliott incident for a potential penalty, but didn’t seem it is necessary to fine him. They did however reportedly give the HMS driver a warning to avoid such incident in the future.
