The 2025 NASCAR Cup season is set to get started with The Clash at the Bowman Gray Stadium. The Cup garage has been going to LA Coliseum the last three season, before changing the stadium and marking the long-awaited return of the Madhouse to premier stock car racing schedule. The quarter-mile race is going to be a real challenge for the racers.

Most racers on the grid have limited or no experience racing at the track, despite it being the host of some of the most entertaining lower tier races over the years. One of the racers with some experience at the track is the 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott, who raced in a K&N race years ago. But the champion racer doesn’t think it is going to help him much.

I don’t think so. It’s been so long since I’ve been there and yeah, those K&N races were years ago, so. I don’t really think that’s going to help.

Chase Elliott told Bob Pockrass.

Further talking about the point, Elliott pointed out that the experience driver had racing at Coliseum the last few years is going to helpful at Madhouse despite it being different. One of the similar factors about the race is how fast things happen on the track, owing to its small size.

I think probably the last few years having been at the Coliseum, I know it’s going to be different, for sure. But I do think there will be some similarities and just a track of that size and kinda how quick things happen, how quick do corners come up on you.

In the same conversation, Chase Elliott pointed out that his experience being over a decade old negate any advantage he has. He admitted that having any recent experience at the event, is going to be a major factor on Sunday.

I think just the cadence of a lap, having a little bit of time here recently is, in my opinion going to mean a little more than my race at Bowman Gray that was however many years ago, 15 years ago.

The comments from Chase Elliott, shows he is indifferent when it comes how he expects the unofficial season opener is going to playout for him. It would be interesting to see how the race as well as the whole season is going to be for the No:9 Chevy team.
