The sitting US President Donald Trump is set to appear in the 2025 Daytona 500, the new season opener, according to the latest reports. He has been to NASCAR races twice in the past, with the 2020 Daytona 500 appearance as the Grand Marshall being one of the special moments of the sport.
It’s been over five years since a sitting president has come to NASCAR races and it is going to benefit the sport. The 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott has shared his feelings about the potential visit and has explained how it’s going to help the sport to attract more viewership.
Yeah, I think just having a sitting president come and be part of one of our biggest days of the year, certainly our biggest, what I would call our biggest event of the year, I think is special and certainly brings a lot of eyes and a different perspective to what we do down here for the race. Always thought it was really cool.

The comments from Elliott show he is really excited about the president’s visit and the potential opportunity to secure the win for the No:9 Hendrick Motorsports team. It will not be an easy ride though, as he will be starting P17, with the potential of getting caught up in wrecks.

I remember the sitting president used to call the winner. I don’t know if you’ll remember that or not but some stories happening. I don’t know if that happens now. It’s just a cool thing.

The comments from Elliott show he likes to experience the special moment involving the president by winning the Daytona 500. It would be interesting to see if the HMS driver can secure the win and potentially experience it this Sunday.
