The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott came into the 2024 season hoping for redemption after having the worst year of his career last year. The ice-skating accident took the toll on him last season and caused his poor season. He has his recovery this year as expected, with a race win at Texas, super consistency and now finds himself in the R-8 fighting for the championship.

But everything isn’t great for the No:9 Chevy driver, as he now finds himself in a tough spot with a must win situation going into the last two races of R-8. Despite the desperation for the race win, Chase Elliott refused to be aggressive and pointed out that despite the fact that he has been guilty of aggression in the past.

I think when you get This time of year. It can become easy to see the… light at the end of the tunnel and want to maybe be a little more aggressive than. And you probably should be at times and I’ve been guilty of that for sure. I think everyone probably has at one point or another.

Chase Elliott told Claire B. Lang.

The Hendrick Motorsports veteran pointed out that he thinks he and his rivals are well aware of the fact that everyone is smart enough to make good decision. So, he expects a good playoff race on Sunday.

I would like to think that we are all smart enough to make good decisions and try to do things the right way. That’s how I would like to see things done.

Chase Elliott explained who to blame for his Vegas wreck

The No:9 Chevy driver Chase Elliott has found himself in the tough position due points he missed out at Las Vegas. It was due to damages he suffered because of the big wreck he had with Matin Truex Jr. and Tyler Reddick.  He pointed out that it was the No:45 who to blame as, the Toyota driver pushed limit a little too much.

The 45 was coming up a big run up top, and I don’t think Martin knew that. He was kind of running as if we were too wide, and once I recognized there wouldn’t be enough room, I tried to bail. There was just nowhere to bail; it was too late. I certainly understand but there was not a lot of room … in the corner. At that point in the race, it was a big gamble for him to bank on me recognizing and Martin recognizing that he had a big run-up top.

Chase Elliott added.

The former champion seems to be content and confident going into the next races of the season. He is looking to have a clean and perfect race, that would help him thrived under pressure of the must win situation. It will be interesting to see if Elliott will be able to make into the final four with the victory.
