Hometown hero winning the race is always a special moment for the NASCAR fans and the stock car racing fans that gathered at Atlanta Motor Speedway got to experience that moment, thanks to the sports’ most popular driver Chase Elliott. It marked his first win of the 2025 season and ended his 42-race winless streak.
It was an impressive win from Chase Elliott, considering he wasn’t even in the top 10 when the race started, as the Fords dominating the qualification. The Ford cars were on the lead even till the final laps. The No:9 Chevy driver slowly made his way up the track, avoiding multiple wrecks and spin from drivers to secure the impressive wins.

On the final lap of the event, Chase Elliott found himself behind race leader Brad Keselowski. He took advantage of the push he got from teammate Alex Bowman to overtake the RFK Racing owner driver and kept it till the finish line. The fight the No:6 Ford had with the No:48 Chevy for P2, helped Elliott to cruise to his first win since Texas 2024.
He was over the moon after getting back on the victory lane and didn’t hessite to show his emotions on team radio as well as later before the media. He admitted that it was an unbelievable race and one of the most special wins of his racing career. The Mr. Most Popular Racer of NASCAR will never forget the win that helped him to silence critics such as Kyle Petty.
Unbelievable. Unbelievable. How about that? Are you kidding me? I’ve never in my life. This is unbelievable. Thank you guys so much. What a special car. Just a huge thanks to NAPA Auto Parts and everything they do for me and to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. …It was a lot of fun. This right here is something I will never forget, so thank you guys so much.

Alex Bowman is excited to help his teammate Chase Elliott win
In the qualifying, the best non-Ford driver was Alex Bowman, who is always strong in the superspeedway events and he was string through out the race, even after getting involved in an incident. Talking about the loss, he admitted that he is happy for his teammate securing a special win on the day.

My car was really good, but I was pretty bottom dependent just with how our handling was. I’d say that win was a little popular, so congrats to the 9 team and Chase. Glad to have a Hendrick car in victory lane.
Alex Bowman said.
Further talking about it, he admitted that he wishes it was him in the victory lane instead of his teammate, which would have been the case if they didn’t lose the control of the race earlier. If he was leading the race at the right time like Chase Elliott, he would’ve been in the playoffs.
Wish it was us, but we had a really fast 48 after we crashed. Just needed to not lose control of the race. That was hard to do. Everybody that led lost control of the race. I just led at the wrong time, I guess.
Alex Bowman added.
After the 18th race of the season, Bowman remains the only Hendrick Motorsports drivers that hasn’t scored a race win and secured a spot in the alast-16. He now has to step up and win a race sooner than later, as the more delay there is the more challenging is going to be for him to be a championship contender.
