The Georgia state racing fans came to Atlanta Motor Speedway this Saturday to watch their hometown hero Chase Elliott getting into the victory lane like his father Bill Elliott did five times in his racing career. The Hendrick Motorsports driver delivered exactly that in an exciting race, ending his 43-race winless streak and securing a playoff spot.

Chase Elliott won his second ever race at the track by overtaking RFK Racing owner driver Brad Keselowski on the final lap of the race. The two found themselves in a duel on the last lap of the event and the No:9 car was able to overtake the 2012 Cup champion with the help of a push from his teammate Alex Bowman.

The victory sent the Chase Elliott fandom, the biggest in the garage that helped him to win the last six NASCAR Cup Series most-popular driver awards. After the race he talked about the fans that came to support him and asserted that his fans determination as well as unwillingness to quit on the No:9 crew helped them to be motivated enough to end to winless run for good.

I think it just kind of goes to show how great our fans have been to me and to us. It just kind of really makes you appreciate them even more for really sticking with us and not giving up hope, ultimately being able to give both me and my team an experience like that, because their determination and unwillingness to quit on us is really cool.

Chase Elliott said via NBC Sports.

Further talking about the point, he asserted that he cherishes every moment he gets to celebrate wins and success with his fans, as it really hard to win over the hearts of passionate NASCAR fan base. He asserted that he will never take this support for granted and will always work hard reward them for their trust, especially the home fans.

Certainly, if things work out, I’ll always cherish and enjoy them as much as possible, because they are hard to win. Nobody has anything promised to them. I recognize that. I’ll never take that for granted in those moments, especially to do that here at home.

Chase Elliott asserts that Atlanta win was wild

In his appearance on the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio after the win, Chase Elliott explained how impressive and wild his victory was, as he survived multiple shoves as well aggressive moves. But he also got multiple pushes the same time that helped him to move upfront.

Yeah, it was wild. You know, got just a couple really good situations off of four and had a really big shove there and into one. I think I got two for one there with a couple to go that got me by, I forget who, and then the 45 and that got me to third.

Further talking about the point, Chase Elliott admitted a bit of luck was involved in him getting to P2 behind Keselowski with his teammates Alex Bowman behind him. He had the best person he could hope for at the moment to push him to the victory.

And I’m not exactly sure what happened, but somehow or another, Alex got to third or got me to second, I’m sorry. And I couldn’t really tell how that happened. And when I saw him in my mirror, I thought, well, you know, that’s better than somebody else.

The comments from the No:9 Chevy driver shows as it has always been in the Superspeedways luck plays an important role in the final lap of races. If just like Elliott, Brad Keselowski had a teammate pushing him, the race result would have been much different. It would be interesting to see if the luck and good form follow the 2020 champion for the rest of the season.
