The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked the return to form of 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott, who had the worst year of his career the previous year which was marked with his tibia injury. He made an impressive comeback with a win at Texas, and though he has been winless, has produced consistent performance often.

Chase Elliott has made another step closer to fighting for the championship as he made to round of 8, with an impressive performance in the second round of post-season. He was really proud of the impressive performance from he and the team at Roval, maximizing stage pints, while securing a P5 finish.

Really proud of our group for fighting through. For us to have positioned ourselves where we did at the end of those stages and get back to fifth. I mean it’s not a win. Obviously, I’d love to win the race but I was pretty proud of that that effort and that result after the day we had and just always we had to take the points. Totally understandable

Chase Elliott told NBC.

While further talking about the challenges he faced in the R-12, he pointed out that it was an uphill battle, which he enjoyed. Going into the penultimate playoff round, he feels all the drivers in it are capable of getting into the champiuonship-4 and he is ready for the battle coming his way.

But you put yourself in a bad spot and it’s an uphill battle. So, this whole round has been an uphill battle, but it’s been been fun and glad to be moving on. I think you get to the Round of 8 and really, it’s anybody’s ball game. So, I’m ready to get going.

Chase Elliott added.

While talking about he and HMS’ impressive season, Chase Elliott admitted that the whole team has been doing a really good job. They have been working hard to make sure all four HMS drivers have great cars that would help them to thrive.

Everybody’s been doing a great job all year. I feel like everybody’s paddling the ship in the same direction. And it shows…I’m proud to be part of it. I’m proud of everybody at Hendrick Motorsports – top to bottom. There’s a lot of effort that goes into it and achieving like that…I’m really proud.

The HMS driver seems to be confident that his team will give him better cars in the coming rounds and will help him to be more productive in the championship chase. It will be interesting to see how the former champion would perform in the coming years.
