The 2025 NASCAR Cup Season so far has been a bag of mixed feelings for Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott. He is finding it hard to end the 42-race winless streak that started after his win in 2024 at Texas, despite being among the most consistent drivers, and even starting the year winning the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. Ahead of his home race in Atlanta, Georgia, the Mr. Most Popular of the sport has explained what he seems to be lacking.

This year, Chase Elliott has been the most consistent driver without a win and has been better than half of racer winners. He has secured 9 top 10 finishes from the 17 races, with the worst finish of P20, with no DNFs. The No:9 Chevy driver is still winless, with the closest he came to a win being a P3 finish at Mexico City.

So, what the 2020 champion needs to get back to winning ways? Well, the answer is pretty simple for the star racer, he needs to extract more pace from his Chevys. His winless run isn’t because of the Hendrick Motorsports cars being slower, as his teammate Kyle Larson and William Byron has won multiple races. He just needs to find that one last piece of the puzzle to het his solid team back on winning ways.

I think just have a little more pace, honestly. Just a little bit. There’s been so many pieces of the puzzle that I’m really proud of that I feel like we have… and just getting that last little bit. But I think the cool thing about where our team’s at right now is I just think we’re really solid.

Chase Elliott said via Frontstretch.

Further talking about the point, he admitted that it’s on him to extract that extra speed, as his team under the guidance of Alan Gustafson is pretty strong. The winless streak is really frustrating for the massive fan base of the racer, which was recently highlighted by ex-racer Kyle Petty who urged Elliott to get back to winning ways soon.

I think I can do a little better job for my team to just extract a little bit more pace. They’re doing a great job over the wall. I think Alan’s been calling great races.

Talking about racing against the Richard Childress Racing driver, he admitted that he is excited about it and asserted that it is going to be a talking point for throughout the summer and mid-season. This gives the fans something else to be excited about.

No, not yet. Austin and I get along pretty good usually. I’m excited about it, though. I think it’ll be something good to talk about throughout the year and throughout the summer… and kind of give people a little something extra to watch after.

Chase Elliott said.

Talking about the potential of having trash talks between them, Chase Elliott admitted that though they haven’t started it yet and admitted that they might engage on it on Saturday. But it will rarely happen considering Elliott isn’t a man of confrontation.

We haven’t started trash-talking yet, but maybe Saturday. We’ll see how it goes. But I’m looking forward to it. I think the fans will get into it as well.

Chase Elliott added.

The fight doesn’t seem to be as tough as other match ups considering the poor form Austin Dillon is in with RCR and the superior consistency Chase Elliott is showing. It will be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the duo on race day.
