The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season so far has been impressive for RFK Racing driver Chris Buscher, who has been carrying the team on his shoulders throughout the Next-Gem era. He is sitting P10 in the table with 676 points to his name. The veteran has been really consistent this year, scoring ten toop-10s from 25 starts, with only blemish for his season being the No:17 team’s winless streak.

Despite the consistency, the veteran is not among the drivers competing for the championship, as in order to do that the Ford drivers need to get into the top-6 on the table. With the just the regular season finale left, it is going to be really hard for him to close the 51 points gap on Chase Briscoe at P6. He is determined to do everything he could to progress in the points table at Daytona.

We know you need to be seeded probably somewhere no worse than sixth to truly have a shot at it and that’s going to be tough as well. We’re close. We’re in the hunt. We’re going to do all we can to put more points on the board tomorrow night and certainly this is a great opportunity for us.

Furthermore, Chris Buescher pointed out that over the years RFK has always fielded strong cars for him at Daytona, and he has won the 2023 regular season finale, giving them the right notes for Sunday. He is hoping that the speedway good will work in his favor and give him a positive Saturday night.

We’ve got really great race cars here through the years — lots of opportunities to win races and been able to win here and been really close at other times, so we need a couple of things and the speedway gods to look positive on our days and if we can do that, we can certainly have a great outcome tomorrow evening.

Chris Buescher’s teammate Ryan Preccce is also desperate for a result

While Buescher is chasing the championship contention spots, his teammate Ryan Preece is desperate for a last-16 spot. He is currently P17 in the table with a 31 points deficit to Shane van Gisbergen at P16. The veteran needs to sweep the stages as well as win the race to put him in a good spot for the chase.

Brad pretty much explained it to you guys – the driver’s and the owner’s side – but, for me, when I come into this weekend I just think about trying to win stages and win the race. That ultimately, no matter what situation it is, we would get our way into the playoffs, so, selfishly, I’d like to be in on the driver’s side, but I am fully aware, and I’ve been in the car owner points race before.

It’s not just him that going all out; the duo’s boss Brad Keselowski also need similar result as he is P18 in the table. This makes the whole racing dynamic intriguing for the whole Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing garage.

Ultimately, I would love to get both in. I completely understand the situation and know that having a great day will get us in on the owner’s side, but the goal going into it before everything starts is to try and do both.

Ryan Preece added.

The comments from the racers are on point and shows how Daytona is going to be a wild race, with multiple drivers being desperate for results. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the drivers.
