(Video) Cole Custer promises payback to “f***ing clown” Chandler Smith after Kansas antics
Kansas Xfinity playoff race witnessed some intense back and forth between JGR’s Chandler Smith and SHR’s Cole Custer.

Coming into the first playoff race of the 2024 season, the defending champion and the regular season title winner Cole Custer had a lot of hopes. But his dream of back-to-back win at Kansas was “supposedly” ruined by Chandler Smith, who raced the Stewart Haas Racing driver hard the whole race, helping Aric Almirola to play spoiler.
Cole Custer blames Chandler Smith for him making a significant contact with the wall on a late restart which cost him some valuable speed advantage. A furious Custer showed his feelings by confronting Smith after the race in the pit-lane and cursing at him on the face for the allegedly racing him a like a clown.

You raced me like a f***ing clown! … You put me in the f***ing fence when I was on your right rear. It’s over [the conversation].
Cole Custer shouted at Smith.
The ex-champion didn’t stop there as in his post-race press interaction, he promised to take revenge for the aggressive moves. Custer asserted that he would race his rival the same way he was raced in the coming events and the payback is on.
It really made me mad when he put us in the fence on that restart. He’s going to pay the consequences for that and I’m going to race him like he races me. … He put me in the fence and he’s going to pay for it.

Chandler Smith is unfazed and unapologetic
While talking about the incident in his post-race interview, Chandler Smith asserted that he didn’t do anything wrong at the moment. He believes that what he did was the right thing for the win, but understands Custers’ frustration.
You’ve got a very, very valid statement, I understand, but I also wouldn’t change what I did, because I was giving myself the best shot to win.
Chandler Smith said.
The comments from Smith suggest that he ready for whatever payback that his coming his way and is looking forward to getting out of it without any issues. He has shifted his focus to remaining races of the season and Custer should do the same, while being focused on revenge.
