Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar is one of the most talked about racers in the garage for all the good and wring reasons. Recently he has been making a lot of enemies on the track, with his aggressive racing and bold statements post-race. Many senior figures of the sports have warned the youngster of consequences of his actions.

But the No:77 Chevy driver has refused to back own and doubled down on his words ahead of the Atlanta Cup race.  Talking to former racer Jaime McMurry, Hocevar asserted that he loves hard racing with his rivals and is ready for the all the challenges that is ahead of him. It came of a threat to his Cup Series rivals.

That’s not like a threat and taunt. I don’t want to get in car wars. But I love racing really hard. I’m disappointed when they don’t race me hard because I just want to enjoy these races. I don’t know how many of these I got. I want to just race as hard as I can and just really enjoy it and know that I was 100 percent me and enjoyed it.

Carson Hocevar said ahead of the Atlanta race.

Corey Heim, the long-time rival and 23XI Racing part-time driver, was shocked to see the statements from the Spire driver. He had an epic reaction calling the racer “son’ on X, in a tone that hints he has messed up by “running his mouth.” Their rivalry started in the Truck Series two years ago and since than has evolved into one of the biggest story lines in the sport. It’s going to be much bigger, when the racer makes his full-time Cup debut in 2027.

Son!

Corey Heim responded.

Carson Hocevar’s attitude might’ve cost him the Atlanta win

The Spire driver was on the lead at Atalanta last Sunday and had the opportunity to win the race, but the drivers behind him refused to push the No:77 and instead helped Ryan Blaney to the victory. Denny Hamlin via his podcast revealed that some JGR-23XI driver already planned to not help the racer even before the race and there were three TRD drivers involved in the final finish.

This shows how the supposedly poor attitude of the racer is hurting him and might potentially cost him more wins in the future. The youngster himself knew that if not from Blaney, he wasn’t going to get help from anyone around him on the last lap. It gives Carson Hocevar a mixed feelings about a potential second win of the season slipping away.

I don’t know where the Chevys went, but it was just me. I was all alone. I mean, even for Ryan, there were no Fords up there, so we were kind of just trying to help each other a little bit, so the second I came off of two and I knew I was like three wide and they had the opportunity. People basically are going to choose who’s going to win the race. They sure as hell are not going to pick me, so no, I don’t feel like it slipped away or anything.

Carson Hocevar said after the race.

The same nightmare scenario will potentially happen more in the future for the racer, as his Chevy teammate might refuse to help him in the same situation. The youngster needs to earn back the respect of his rivals, as at the end of the day many of them can make or break his race easily if the beef with the whole garage continues.
