On the very first lap of the Watkins Glen playoff race last Sunday Corey LaJoie pulled of a move that ruined the race for multiple drivers. He made contact with the left rear of Kyle Busch’s No:8 Camry and sent him spinning. the chaos collected the like of Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney. The defending champion Blaney was parked and endured a DNF because of it.

It cost Kyle Busch another opportunity to have a good race as well. Corey LaJoie via his podcast talked about the incident and revealed that he was trying to do the exact opposite of what happened on Sunday and feels terribly bad to be the instigator of the race ruining incident. But there are no excuses for his actions.

So, I wanted to give the 8 room there off the wall, didn’t want to crowd him. And then I ended up coming into his left rear there, so there’s really no excuse for that. I was trying to… my only intention the first lap was to get singled out and not ruin anybody’s day and that’s the exact opposite of what happened.
Corey LaJoie said via Stacking Pennies podcast.

He went on to admit that he seems to be a trouble magnet for Kyle Busch and the No:8 Chevy in the 2024 season. So, Corey LaJoie admitted that he is waiting for the long overdue payback from Busch to come his way soon.

There’s a magnet for the 7 and the 8 car, unfortunately, and he’s had the short end of the stick. So I’m just waiting on payback.

Obviously, the history involved makes it a cool place to race. It is also the pinnacle of short track racing. I always enjoy my time there and I hope to bring home a good finish in our Mattress Warehouse Camaro.
Corey LaJoie said.

LaJoie has momentum on his side going into this weekend, and his hopes are validated. But he needs to be worried with the Kyle Busch while going for a good finish. It will be interesting to see how the reminder of the season plays out for him.
