Corey LaJoie reveals its ‘weird’ and ‘unique’ seeing JBR duo Denny Hamlin and Christophe Bell below him in point table

Corey LaJoie has been over the moon since last Sunday after he secured his career-best finish in his 169 total starts in Cup Series on a chaotic re-configurated Atlanta track. He drove his Spire Motorsports in the No. 7 Chevrolet to a fifth-place surviving an early-race accident.

Corey LaJoie also became only the second driver in 154 total team starts to secure a top 5 finish for the team which help him to climb up his way to the P25 ahead of top drivers such as Joe Gibbs Racing driver and 23X1 Racing team owner Denny Hamlin and his fellow JBR driver Christophe Bell.

Now Corey LaJoie has come out sharing how he feels about toping drivers such as the JBR duo to climbing up to the top

Corey LaJoie acknowledged that getting his first top-5 will be just a start for something better. He then went on to share his thoughts on how to feel about the top drivers like Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell remaining at the bottom of the championship table with no wins suggesting that it is just a temporary phenomenon. He added that they will surely find their way to the playoff soon.

To deliver a result like that was cool to finally get the first top-five for those guys and hopefully it’s not the last. For me, it’s not the end of the road. We’re just getting started,” Corey LaJoie said.

It is a little bit weird looking at the points. I don’t think it is going to stay like that for long because you can’t keep a guy like Denny or Christopher Bell out of Victory Lane too long. Seeing (Hamlin) and (Bell) behind you in points five races into the year is a little bit unique, but we’re not racing those guys. Those guys will ultimately figure out how to race and punch their ticket to the playoffs,” Corey LaJoie added.

“We’re going to try to gap ourselves guys who we can beat in points,” Corey LaJoie on Spire Motorsports plan ahead

Corey LaJoie suggested that he and his team will be hoping to increase the point gap between the teams standing near to them at the championship table by doing good in the road and dirt courses ahead and added that the team aims to secure a P25 finish at the end of the season. He went on to deny the Spire Motorsports and JBR comparison pointing out the funding difference and car difference they have and added that his team will do every within their power to be on top.

I think the next month or so through these couple road courses and a couple of short-tracks and then the dirt race, we’re going to try to gap ourselves and put a cushion between the guys who we feel like we can beat in points and hopefully we can finish (the season) in the top 25,” Corey LaJoie said.

There is not a Spire Motorsports comparison to Joe Gibbs (Racing), but it is funny enough and they also have double the amount of cars we’ve got. We’ve got two cars; they’ve got four and considerably better funded. We’re going to continue to control what we can control and let everything else work out how it’s supposed to,” Corey LaJoie added.
