The NASCAR Cup Series last race witnessed the most dominant performance of Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Chase Briscoe. He won the first playoff race of the 2025 season at Darlington Raceway, leading over 300+ laps, making it the best Southern 500 in over 54 years. This has inspired Dale Earnhardt Jr. to make bold prediction on the Toyota racer.

In the latest episode of the Dirty Mo Media Dale Jr. Download podcast, Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. declared Chase Briscoe as dangerous. He pointed out that the rest of the garage should be concerned looking into the NO:19 team, who has won two races so far in 2025 and is in hot form compared to the rest of the playoff grid.

Dude, he is dangerous. I’d be a little concerned if I was the competition. I’d be looking at him going, ‘He’s got to be one of the guys I need to worry about.’

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the Dale Jr. Download.

He highlighted how the last few weeks has seen the James Small’s team making the right moves on and off the track. They are consistently upfront battling for wins, unlike some his counterparts who have been struggling. In the last five races he had an average qualifying 6.6 and finish of 8.8, showing elite consistency.

We were sitting here talking to Briscoe last week, and I’m like, ‘Man, things started clicking at Charlotte, qualifying good, racing good, win at Pocono, starting to run up front, starting to be competitive,’

Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

One of the other major changes that should concern Briscoe’s rival is the change in his attitude. Unlike he has been in the past, the veteran racer has learned to embrace the pressure more than ever. The back to back Southern 500 win under duress shows he is on the right track and Junior is only seeing better results from the ex-SHR driver in the remaining races.

And Briscoe’s a little different in the playoffs. He said, ‘Man, I love pressure.’ So we talked about pressure, we talked about why he loves pressure. And he just won his second Southern 500 in a row. One of the hardest races to win in the year.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. refuses to call Chase Briscoe a solid championship contender

But despite all these factors, the two times Xfinity Series champion isn’t yet ready to give the championship favorite tag to the racer. The Toyota driver has more to prove on and off the track to earn that tag such early in the season.

But Dale Jr. is sure about one thing, the TRD driver is ready to steal the spotlight from one of the expected favorite from championship chase. He is confident that the No:19 team most probably will make the final four and upset one of the big names.

I don’t know if he can win it all. I’m not ready to say he’s got a chance to go win the championship, but he’s going to ruin, and I think I said this, he’s going to ruin another sure contender. I mean if there’s a final four that you feel like are four locks, he’s going to boot somebody out. I see it, too.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Junior isn’t the only NASCAR personality that is banking on Briscoe to have a solid playoff, as the likes of Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and more expect that same from him. It would be interesting to see how Martin Truex Jr.’s replacement is going to perform in the remaining nine races of the playoffs.
