Hendrick Motorsports Kyle Larson made a bold statement about his Xfinity Series pouting last week to Kevin Harvick. He revealed that his motive behind the part-time appearance is to embarrass the young drivers, to teach them the difference between the first and second division. The 2021 Champion aim was to give the new generation of racers a reality check and make them better.

Reigning Xfinity Serie champion team JR Motorsports’ NASCAR Hall of Famer owner Dale Earnhardt Jr., who has won the championship twice in his early arcing career, addressed the comment on his podcast. He isn’t happy with Kyle Larson declaration of wanting to embarrass the field and his criticism of NASCAR limiting veterans to just five races in the series.

The first thing he said, I didn’t like. He said he wanted to embarrass the field, and he wanted to embarrass NASCAR, and he was not happy that they limit the races the Cup guys can run. The rest of the point he made was valid.

He is okay with the arguments Larson had to support his agenda, as he believes the young racers needs a reality check on the difference in quality of racing in the two different series. Junior believes the new generation of racers needs to understand how much harder its going for them to succeed in the top tier.

He’s basically saying that these kids that are in there think they’re better than they are and I like to go in there and show them where the standard is or what they might be up against if they were to ever get to the Cup level and they need to know that now. They need to know how much harder they need to work.

The Hall of Famer further talking about the point, named the driver who helped to build the new generation in the past. First racer that comes to Junior mind is fellow HOF Mark Martin, was the veteran teacher for a long-time, pushing the youngsters beyond the limit and then it was Kyle Busch, who has over 100 wins in the series.

I get that, Mark Martin was that guy for years. He was the guy that would show up and you’re like, ‘Sh*t, nearly impossible to beat.’ Damn, he pushed you. Pushed us all to try harder. We would not have raised our game if he had not showed up. Kyle Busch did that. [He] would show up and take the money.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

Further talking about the point, Junior pointed out that it was frustrating for the youngster to go against Busch in the Joe Gibbs Racing car, as the dominant car-driver duo won everything and cost them financially. NASCAR introduced the Kyle Busch rule before the 2010’s to end this issue for good.

It was frustrating because racing against Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing, you’re racing against not only an elite driver, but elite equipment. … When he showed up and was going to run first, he knocked everybody in the field down a notch. When you do that a lot throughout the year, that adds up financially for those teams.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.

The Martin-Busch duo helped the drivers like Kyle Larson to perfect their race craft and before making it into the big league. Now the time has come for the next generation of veterans to do their part, and Kyle Larson is taking the lead on it.
