Richard Childres signed Kyle Busch for 2023, hoping to make the team the powerhouse it used to be in its glory days. He proved it was the right decision by securing three wins in the first half of last season. But since then the No:8 Chevy team is experiencing a massive performance slump.

Kyle Busch is going through the worst winless streak of his career as his car hasn’t been anywhere close to victory this season. NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently via his podcast Dale Jr. Download discussed the poor situation the two-time Cup champion has found himself in.

He pointed out that despite the poor performance, Busch hasn’t quit and is doing everything he can possibly to get better performance on and off the track. The pressure is on RCR to give their star driver a car capable of getting a race win this season with just five more races left before playoffs.

Man, it is when you run like s***, it is freaking hard to go into that shop. You’re embarrassed, you’re ashamed, you don’t know whether the team is believing in you or if they lost belief. You don’t know the next time you walk into that shop whether the shop’s going to still be believing in you or have they finally quit believing in you. That’s hard to go into the shop after all this struggle, and I believe that he’s very confident in himself and he’s still engaged, he’s still plugged in. It’s unfortunate, but I feel the pressure is on RCR.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserts Kyle Busch shouldn’t be blamed for the slump

Junior, earlier discussing the point before giving the pressure verdict, has claimed that Busch has nothing to do with the poor situation they found themselves in. He believes the veteran is doing everything he can to get over the mark and be productive.

I have never worked with Kyle. I don’t know what he is physically like, but I’ve heard the guy is hands-on. Kyle Busch, I don’t believe is at fault because he’s not plugged in, not available, not accountable.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

The season has 15 more races for Kyle Busch and the team to come back. The driver desperately wants a win to continue his streak of at least a win a season, but without a good car, he has zero hopes.
