The NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville on Sunday witnessed some wild moments, including 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace’s misjudged revenge on Spire Motorsports’ youngster Carson Hocevar. He took himself out on the corner on the final stage of the race, causing a multi-car pile-up and running multiple drivers’ momentum.
NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Eranhardt Jr. talked about the incident and the veteran admitting his mistakes of post-race interview, on the latest episode of his podcast. The veteran didn’t mince his words, asserting how Wallace f—ed up and wrecked the No:77 Chevy. It was a frustrating moment for everyone involved.
He just drove through him. I didn’t like what you did. I think he owned it, though. I mean, he wrecked him. He realized he f—ed up.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on his podcast.
Further talking about the point, the Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. pointed out that the reason Bubba Wallace cost a lot of points to his teammate because of his revenge on Carson Hocevar. He is currently 147 points behind Tyler Reddick at P1 and went down to P11 from P3 in the table. But Junior is confident that the No:23 Toyota is capable of climbing back to the top.
Bubba was behind his teammate in second in points at one point. … Now, he’s 147 points out. He’s given up roughly 60, 70 points to Tyler Reddick over the last handful of races… Bubba can claw his way back into this with some great work. And he’s capable of doing that.

Kevin Harvick exposes Bubba Wallace’s frustration over Martinsville chaos
2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick also talked about the Bubba Wallace incident on the latest episode of his podcast. He highlighted how the 23XI got riled up and how his bad temper led to the situation, something Harvick has went through in the past at Martinsville. What makes things bad to the 23 cars though is the fact that multiple cars were taken out in the incident.

Bubba got riled up because Carson put him three wide on a restart and put him in a bad spot and Bubba didn’t like that. But, you know, it’s Martinsville and I’ve lost my temper a bunch of times at Martinsville and probably done stuff like this too…It’s tough when you crash a guy like that and then wind up in the crash yourself. And your day is done and it wipes out so many cars.
Kevin Harvick said.
Furthermore, he highlighted the pressure that was on Bubba Wallace shoulder to perform. He hasn’t won a single race this year, while his teammate has won four and that build up frustration. Wallace needs to keep this in control if he wants to perform on a high level in the Cup Series.
Your teammate’s the guy that’s won four races and is leading the points, that’s a lot of pressure. I promise you that he’s frustrated that he’s not been the guy that’s won the race… But you got to keep it together. You can’t lose your cool like that and cost yourself and your team all those points.
Kevin Harvick added.
Both NASCAR legends were spot on with their assessment of the Bubba Wallace-Carson Hocevar incident. Both drivers made their mistakes and they need to learn from it, ahead of the upcoming races of the season.
