The NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa marked a fine entry for the track to the Cup Series with Ryan Blaney coming out as the victor of Iowa Corn 350. But the race should have actually won by 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson who has the fastest car of the day and started the race in the pole, by beating Blaney on Saturday.
But Kyle Larson’s race was ruined by an incident in the re-start soon after he won the second stage on Sunday. Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Saurez got lose and hit the No:5 Chevy from the back. This resulted in Larson spinning and slammed into Denny Hamlin, before hitting the wall hard significantly damaging his car.

While talking about the incident in his post-race interview, Suarez asserted that the incident wasn’t his fault and it was a racing incident. He pointed out that he doesn’t really know what happened during the clash but asserted that it was a culmination of him going up the track while Larson and Brad Keselowski coming to squeezing the inside lane.
It was a little bit tricky there. Definitely Kyle had one of the best cars there. The last thing I want is to wreck one of my Chevy teammates. During the race I was a little bit confused, I didn’t really have an opinion because I didn’t know if I went up or he came down. I just saw the replay for the very first time and I thought that I definitely went up and I made contact with him…But it wasn’t definitely my intention, but I feel like it was a racing thing.Daniel Suarez told Fox Sports.
Kyle Larson claims he had the best car of the day at Iowa
While talking about his performance son Sunday and the disappointing finish, Kyle Larson pointed out that he had the best car of the day at Iowa. He admitted that he wish he could have had the restart back and secure the win.

It’s hard to say how the rest of the race is going to play out. No doubt I run top four. I felt like by far we had the best car. I feel like that one got away from us. Wish I could have that restart back.Kyle Larson said.
The day ended up being huge disappointment for Kyle Larson and the P34 finish also cost him the top spot in the points table. His spot was taken over by Chase Elliott. The Chevy driver will be hoping to make a comeback and secure the win next week at New Hampshire.
