Trackhouse Racing is set to make a major shift for the 2026 season, as Daniel Suarez who drove the No:99 Chevy for them from day one is set to make his final start for the team in the 2025 finale at Phoenix. He will be replaced by Conor Zilisch from next year, while the Mexican-American will race for Spire Motorsports.
Ahead of the finale, Daniel Suarez in an interview shared his thoughts on the exit. He admitted that he is leaving the team unsatisfied, but he is happy with the experience he has had over the years with Justin Marks’ team. He decided to leave the team, after his suggestions regarding the changes the team needs weren’t given enough attention.
I’m leaving happy, but not satisfied. I would have liked to be listened to a bit more when it came to the internal changes that were needed within the team. But that’s how life goes. I’m not leaving with bad feelings — it was just time.
Daniel Suarez said via motorsport.com.
The mindset as well as the vison Suarez had for his team didn’t align with Trackhouse’s. That forced him out of the team. So, he started searching for a team that align with him and found an opportunity with Spire Motorsports a team that shares his aggressiveness as well as being the fastest growing team in the series.
It’s very important in a team at this level that the mindset and the vision are aligned. If not, you start having problems because you’re simply chasing different things. So, for me, it was essential to find a new team that was not only on the rise but also shared the same mentality as me.

Daniel Suarez shares his expectation with move to aggressive Spire Motorsports
In the same interview, Suarez shared his thoughts on the latest career move, which probably would be his last shot in the top tier. He sees it as a breath of fresh air, and is determined to help Spire grow faster, get into the victory lane, like he did with Trackhouse.

Spire Motorsports, for me, is that breath of fresh air — a new team that is growing incredibly fast. They have great, ambitious owners who are expanding not only in NASCAR but also in other sports. So, this is a great opportunity for me to jump on board with a team that’s on the rise, help them grow even faster, and lead them to victory.
Daniel Suarez said.
Talking about the same in a separate conversation, the Trackhouse driver revealed that he wasn’t given enough attention at the Chevy team and a lot of opportunities were lost because they refused to listen to him. He expects things to change at Spire, as they have more aggressive approach towards things.
At Trackhouse, I was more used to them taking their time — checking things, waiting, saying “we’ll see” — and that wastes a lot of time and opportunities. Spire is much more aggressive, and I like that — that’s how I am. If I want something, I go for it. Maybe not tomorrow, but I’ll get it. In that sense, we’re very similar.
Daniel Suarez added.
The comments from the veteran drivers seems rational and something that the leaders at Trackhouse might not like. The divorce between the team and their original drivers should have been more pleasant. At the end of the day, it’s part of racing as the sport is pretty cut throat.
