Two times NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kyle Busch ended his one and half decade stay with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2022 to join Richard Childress Racing to help the team to get back to former glory. He had an impressive start to his stint with the iconic No:8 team that saw him secure three wins in the first half of 2023 before experiencing a massive drop in performance which he is yet to recover from.
Kyle Busch has been chasing redemption from the start of the 2024 season but has failed to achieve any success because unfortunate incidents and RCR’s failure to give him solid cars. His former teammate Denny Hamlin via his podcast has addressed the poor stint the RCR star is in and given his verdict on why it’s like that.
He pointed out that luck has been a major factor behind the poor streak. Hamlin pointed out that though luck is a very overused term in the sport, Kyle Busch has been part of multiple incidents in the 2024 season that can be categorized as misfortune as it wasn’t always their mistake that led to poor finishes.
Some of the luck — I hate the word luck in racing because you do make your luck most times. If you get caught up in a wreck running 15th, well you shouldn’t have been running 15th because that’s where the wrecks usually start. So, luck is an overused word but certainly they’ve had some misfortunes. Some of that was on them and others it just happened.Denny Hamlin said via Action Detrimental.
Denny Hamlin asserts Kyle Busch is better than what the results suggests
Before giving the bad luck verdict, Hamlin had shared his opinion on the incidents. He pointed out that Kyle Busch is better than the results eh has been getting this season and his team is capable f better finishes as well.
I saw on social media that they thought it was a top-five car. I didn’t see him most of the day because of where I was running, so I can’t really speak to that. But certainly, Kyle Busch is better than his results are showing right now, and the team itself is better than the results that they’re showing.Denny Hamlin said.
Kyle Busch and crew is working hard on getting back to winning form in the remaining nine race in the regular season to secure playoffs while also keeping his win-streak alive. It would be interesting to see how long it will take for the No:8 team to win a race.
