Not even a week after the controversial Carson Hocevar–Ryan Blaney fight, NASCAR has witnessed another on-track brawl and this times the sanctioning body needs to give some massive penalties. In the iconic ValleyStar Credit Union 300 late model race, as Denny Hamlin puts it, some cowards jumped on Corey Heim.

The 23XI Racing driver found himself making multiple contact with Treyten Lapcevicho of Chad Bryan Racing, multiple time during the race, costing him the race win. In the cool down lap, the duo traded more contacts, before the Toyota driver ran over his rival’s car, destroying both of their racing machines.

This infuriated the CBR crew and seven members from the team jumped Heim, who was along in the iconic hotdogs stand at Martinsville. The group hit him multiple times, with Chad Bryant also getting involved before the security team separated them.

Corey Heim’s boss Denny Hamlin talked about the incident on his Actions detrimental podcast, making him furious. He branded the CBR team members cowards for starting an altercation when the Heim, who raced for them in the past, was isolated.

I mean, just complete classlessness from Chad Bryant, the owner, and his team. to wait on Corey — listen to what they did. Those ******* cowards waited on Corey Haim to leave his car and leave his team and then jumped him while he was on the way to his hauler.

Denny Hamlin demands NASCAR to handout harsh penalty

Later in the same conversation, the JGR veteran Hamlin demands NASCAR regional leadership to ban the Chad Bryant’s team that was involved in the chaos for the next season at least. The veteran insisted that he would have some major problem to solve with the sport leadership if they let it slide.

I don’t know who’s in charge of NASCAR Regional, but there’s absolutely no way that any of those guys should be in a pit lane for the next year, at least. I want them to say publicly what they do to them, and if it’s nothing, I will have a major problem, but none of those cowards should be in a pit lane in the foreseeable future.

Further talking about the point, he reiterated that there needs to be punishment that set an example for the drama. The veteran racer has no respect for the CBR team members who went after a young racer that was isolated.

They got to get control of the whole Martinsville thing because it’s spiraling out of control, and I don’t know who’s in charge of it, but they got to do better. Just really (need to) put some real rules down that, if we’re going to have fights, then this will be your last Martinsville for quite some time or last short track race. But I don’t know those — I got no respect for those guys.

Denny Hamlin added.

The comments from the three times Daytona 500 driver are on point and NASCAR needs to step in to make sure, fight only happen among drivers and the crew doesn’t get a free pass.  It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout regarding penalties in the coming days.
