The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been a huge roller coaster ride for Bubba Wallace. He came into the season with the hopes of recreating his impressive 2023 season where he got into the Playoff R-12. But he hasn’t yet hit the mark this season in terms of performance as he is sitting P17 in the points table while his teammate Tyler Reddick in the top-5 and in the fight for regular season championship.

Bubba Wallace has been going though some tough races recently and hasn’t been able to produce consistent results. But last Sunday at Pocono he stepped up as with the help of strong execution on the track as well as on the pit’s the team was able to secure a P10 finish after starting the race on disappointing P29.

While talking about his driver’s race, Denny Hamlin via his podcast admitted the team is severely lacking pace the required to be more productive. He pointed out that the team is executing the races really well and is getting finishes that he shouldn’t be getting considering the pace of the No:23 Toyota Camry.

The reason you need pace is you need stage points. You need to qualify well, you need stage points and then you need to finish in the top 10. I think he’s got one of those worked out, and that’s the finishing part. He’s finishing probably better than his pace would show. But I’ll tell you, he’s at least back in the game now. These things can go one way or another.

Denny Hamlin blamed Corey LeJoie for the Kyle Busch wreck

One of the dramatic incidents of the day, was the wreck featuring Kyle Busch and Corey LeJoie. The Spire Motorsports driver wrecked his RCR counterpart by hooking him from the left on the restart with just 40 laps left on the race. The incident collected around eight cars and ruined the race for them.

Denny Hamlin while discussing about the incident pointed out that the No:7 driver was the one to blame for the incident. He pointed out that the Spire driver could have made a better judgement call, but added that at the end of the day it was just a racing incident.

It’s Corey LaJoie’s fault. There’s no question about that. I think he could have used better judgment when you’re four or five lanes wide. Eventually you have to merge, and you have to let off to merge. It was a bit aggressive on his part, but it was still — you could still classify this under a racing incident that just things happen like this on restarts at Pocono.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver seems to be pretty disappointed with how Corey LeJoie approached the situation and it affecting his former teammate who is already having a bad season. It would be interesting to see how the beef between the two would playout for them.
