The start of the 2024 season was huge for Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, who secured three impressive race wins. But since them he has been experiencing a performance slump to his standard, as he hasn’t been able be in the consistent fight fort victories. The engine seal violation penalty hurt him more as well with loosing playoff points,

Denny Hamlin is currently in a disappointing position with just two points above the R-16 cut-off line after the late wreck at Atlanta. Am I comfortable? No. I mean, certainly, because, you know, I know that still, there’s some, you know, things that can happen, certainly, but I feel like the next two tracks, tires are going to be a big thing, right?

While highlighting on the road course race at Glen, he admitted that the new tires that will have over half a second fall off can be either good or bad for him. Hamlin seems to be expecting the worse in the first round of the playoffs.

And Watkins Glen, you know, we’ve got a new tire going there that, you know, has seconds of fall off, apparently, and if that’s the case then, you know, you could be on the good end or the bad end of that.

Denny Hamlin added.

Denny Hamlin feels confident about going into Bristol

While talking about the R-16 finale, Hamlin asserted that its unclear what the track has for them as the spring and fall saw different type of racing there. As he has been the winner in those two events, he is confident about at least keeping himself about the water at the track.

Then, you’ve got Bristol. We don’t know whether we’re going to have a race like the spring, or a race like the fall. Either way, we won those two races, and so, you know, again, if I can just hold myself above water, get going to Bristol, I feel very confident we’re going to go out there and perform well.
Denny Hamlin said.

The veteran seems to be more concerned about not being in a must win situation when he gets into Bristol. So, he wants to have a solid outing at Glen that will earn him good points. It will be interesting to see how he will perform in those races.
