Joe Gibbs Racing made headlines when they filed an $8 million lawsuit against Spire Motorsport’ Chris Gabehart, alleging theft of sensitive data, after he left the team ahead of the 2026 season. Spire and owner Jeff Dickerson, who are still a party in lawsuit, hasn’t heisted to attack JGR for the filing. In a recent interview the owner made more accusations.
No:11 Toyota Camry driver Denny Hamlin thought wasn’t ready to take the disrespect and he responded via social media. It all started when Dickerson told The Athletics’ Jeff Gluck that the TRD hasn’t produced any evidence regarding the allegation, and they are trying to minimize Spire’s success, including Carson Hocevar’s recent win at Talladega.
I will say that it is tough sitting in court, and being called a liar, and a thief, and a cheater. And every time that a judge has asked for any evidence, they [JGR] have produced nothing…I’ll tell you what upsets me, is that not only is Chris not in that role, but they’re minimizing what happens here. They’re minimizing the 175 people here.
Jeff Dickerson told Jeff Gluck.
The three times Daytona 500 Denny Hamlin was furious with how the Spire Owner called out his team over lawsuit against Chris Gabehart. He Dickerson pointed out that Dickerson signed someone that stole millions worth sensitive information, questioned the new role given to his former crew chief and even accused him of potential being the mole behind RTA calls leak.
Yeah, okay buddy. You hired someone who stole tens of millions worth of information, lied about communications y’all had after you deleted them and now is getting paid double to work on your truck program? GTFO. What was it you called Richard again? Was it you who was leaking information after RTA calls?
Denny Hamlin responded via X.

Denny Hamlin’s team owner Heather Gibbs also released a statement
The co-owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, Heather Gibbs also responded to the comments from Dickerson. In a statement, they highlighted how the Toyota team is built around loyalty and integrity. She highlighted how Spire made questionable move by hiring someone that stole exclusive information.

Those same trade secrets were admittedly stolen by a former employee in a manner meant to avoid detection. Within days of the acknowledged theft, Spire offered that former employee a job and subsequently hired him.
Heather Gibbs said via a statement.

She pointed out that the decided to sue Gabehart because they deserve accountability, and asserted that they are not trying to tear down Spire Motorsports. They want the sport to be fair for everyone involved and that’s the goal with the lawsuit.
We believe accountability matters. That is why we are here. Not to tear anyone down, but to stand up for what is right and protect the foundation this sport is built on, so that every team, every driver, and every fan can trust in the fairness of the competition.
Heather Gibbs added.
The comments from the veteran shows JGR aren’t ready to back out from the fight and are determined to make Gabhart pay for the alleged theft. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the duo in the coming days.
