In the 2024 NASCAR season has been a huge nightmare for two times Cup champion Kyle Busch. The veteran hasn’t won a single race so far this season, while he had three wins last season with the No:8 Richard Childress Racing. As Busch continues to struggle in the Next-Gen era, some have come forward claiming the veterans’ racing style doesn’t match the car.

Kyle Busch’s former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin has come forth calling it BS. He asserted that for a great driver like Busch, it’s always about adjusting and adapting to new style of racing. There possibly might other factor behind, the ex-HMS driver winning only four races since the 2022 season.

I just, I don’t necessarily buy that Kyle Busch’s style doesn’t fit this car. I just think that, as great drivers, they can figure it out and they’ll adapt. So, I think there’s been other factors now. I think, for the first couple years, I mean, he was at Joe Gibbs Racing, he didn’t win very much in those Next Gen times, but I don’t know.

The three times Daytona 500 winner pointed out that Busch almost had three years to adjust with the car and figure out a new style, so the narrative won’t sell anymore. At the end of the day as the generation of cars changes, everyone from the veteran to the rookie has to make significant adjustments to their racing style.

I just think, yes, there’s a learning curve for all of us there, you know, figuring out how much we can hang the car out. What does it need to go fast, but he’s got enough races under his belt now, where I just wouldn’t pin it on, ‘Well, it’s just, it’s his style, and it doesn’t fit.’ Everyone changes their style

Denny Hamlin explains his plans for R-12

The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran had a good start to the second round of the playoffs race Kansas. His approach for the coming two races is to be aggressive and maximize on the points, driving his cars to the limit. He also asserted that it’s time to move on from his poor Atlanta race as he is set to make a difference at Dega.

Be aggressive at Talladega, try to get some points. I’m going to drive to my car’s ability, how about that? Do I need to reiterate? I was in no way shape or fashion able to drive my car around others until 50 laps to go at Atlanta. My car was out of control. I tried to race once, and I nearly crashed. So, I did what I could, alright, and it was good enough so it’s time to move on.

It will not be easy races for Hamlin at Atlanta and then at Roval. He needs to be on his top form, if he wants to continue in the fight for the championship. It will be interesting to see how the No:11 team perform in the coming events.
