Denny Hamlin recently made headlines after intentionally wrecking his teammate, Ty Gibbs, at the New Hampshire race. Hamilton has enjoyed a great performance in the 2025 season and remains one of the winningest drivers this year. However, the JGR veteran had some sore eyes towards him, but he did not regret his decisions much.
But now, after a JGR team meeting, the 44-year-old had some contrasting comments. Denny Hamlin has maintained a strong position in the playoff standings, thanks to his dominant race performances and consistent finishes. The 44-year-old has managed to achieve a P5 position in the championship standings.
Although Hamlin seemed strong off the racing line at the most recent New Hampshire race, he could only finish in P12, which came after a controversial mid-race situation with his teammate. Midway through the USA Today 301 at New Hampshire, Ty Gibbs was unnecessarily racing Denny Hamlin without even being in the playoffs.
As such, Hamlin lost patience and intentionally crashed into Gibbs, sending him into the wall and ending his race as a DNF. The JGR veteran then faced a lot of flak following this controversial move, and JGR set up a meeting between all the members of the crew.
Following the internal meeting, Denny Hamlin has now come clean and provided his side of the story. Hamlin noted that the drivers were now in a good place, especially after the recent meeting. He then accepted that he got hot under the collar and lashed out too far from his end. As such, the 44-year-old wished that he could do some things differently, which he obviously couldn’t do now.
I think they’re in a good place. You know, we had some meetings this week, I mean, certainly, Absolutely. I definitely got hot under the collar, and it went too far on my end, and certainly there was things that I wish I could have done a little differently.

Denny Hamlin labels JGR meeting as ‘productive’
Denny Hamlin had some colorful words to speak after the antics at New Hampshire. However, in hindsight, he looked back at the events and regretted the anger that he showcased during the intense moment. Thanks to such internal meetings at JGR, Hamlin feels at ease and believes that such meetings need to be held more often.

Speaking on the contents of the meeting, Denny Hamlin did not reveal much and insisted that the discussions were all ‘confidential’. The 44-year-old did accept that everything discussed was productive and helped the team clear the air between the teammates. Hamlin asserted that every driver had a say in the matter, and the situation was looked at objectively.
I thought they were all productive meetings, but obviously, the guts of that obviously, going to need to be confidential. Yeah, all the drivers had an opportunity to speak and try to come up with a plan, and I think we did our best to come up with one, That’s it, that’s all I have.
Denny Hamlin noted.
Regardless of the controversies in New Hampshire, no one can strip Denny Hamlin of his achievements this year. JGR will hope for better teamwork between the two drivers throughout the season, and Hamlin is likely to try to keep a more level head on track and avoid colliding with his own teammate.
