The Texas Motor Speedway hosted one of the best races the track has seen since it’s re-configuration on Sunday. Team Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott came out victorious in the double over-time battles, after his teammate Willaim Byron took out Ross Chastain on the final lap and NASCAR was forced call a caution.

The first half of the saw the normal and underwhelming racing Texas has been infamous for over the years, with pole sitter Kyle Larson dominating the preceding to secure the stage win. Things went haywire from the second stage that saw multiple caution due to driver spinning out or taking each other out.

One of the most significant spin of the day came in the last half of the race involving Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin. While fighting for the lead the No:11 Toyota spun out behind the No:9 Chevy of Elliott. This enabled the 2020 Cup champion to easily remain on the lead and it was one contender less to worry about after that.

Chase Elliott fans on social media are delighted with Denny Hamlin’s spin

Denny Hamlin is one of the most hated driver on the NASCAR and it was no surprise that there was a huge set of fans that loves to see Hamlin spinning out. Some fans even used the Toyota drivers’ infamous “I beat your favourite driver” dig against him.

One of the main reason behind the distaste most of the NASCAR fans has one Chase Elliott is the run-ins he had over the years with the fan favourite driver including Elliott. It’s safe to assume that the Elliott fans were happy to not have Hamlin, who never hesitate show aggression on the final laps, racing their star man.

While the spin was a big disappointment for Denny Hamlin, it doesn’t affect him much. He has already secured his place in the playoff with two impressive short track race win. The Texas performance showed JGR can extend their dominate races beyond short tracks and the No:11 team would be looking for a bounce back sooner than later.
