NASCAR conducted a pre-qualifying inspection at Richmond Raceway which commenced this Friday and concluded on Saturday morning. This pre-race inspection saw 5 teams fail twice.
As a result, the teams that failed the inspection saw their car chiefs ejected for the weekend which cost them pit selection.
Which NASCAR teams and drivers will face the consequences of these inspection fails?
The teams and car chiefs that have been ejected are the No. 3 of Austin Dillon (Ryan Chism), the No. 16 of A.J. Allmendinger (Andy Suess), the No. 17 of Chris Buescher (Josh Sisco), the No. 23 of Bubba Wallace (Zach Marquardt) and the No. 47 of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (Joe Gwilt).
Apart from the aforementioned 5 teams, No.31 of Justin Haley and No.44 of Greg Biffle failed the inspection thrice and will not see the qualifiers and will have to succor a pass-through penalty after the commencement of Sundays’ Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.
The car chiefs of Justin Haley (Jaron Antley) and the engineer of Greg Biffle’s team (Nick Ollila) were also evicted from the race weekend. Bubba Wallace’s team already having suffered the loose wheel penalty with his crew chief and crew members suspended for 4 Cup Series races, he now lost his car chief too.
What could be the reason for these teams’ failing inspections and will they find a way to eventually overcome it?
