The NASCAR Cup Series race lasts weekend at Daytona international Speedway witnessed some wild and exciting moments, with the new rules package taking the center stage. One racer that was a bog sceptic of the change that was introduced to make superspeedway racing better was 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace.

The veteran seems to have changed his mind a bit post-race and explained how loss of downforce was pretty evident from the start. Though there some progress, he admitted that at the end of the day the race played out as it always did in the Next-Gen era, as most of the drivers were conserving fuel till the end.

It was okay. It was definitely a loss of a little bit of rear downforce; you could feel that. So, you just kind of had to be easier with your inputs but it kind of played out the same, just saving fuel and riding around quarter percent throttle.

Bubba Wallace said about the new rule package.

There are some positives though, including how the changes made to the car made it much better to make good runs and how is also helped the drivers to produce some impressive passes. Bubba Wallace admitted that he felt like driving the previous generation car with the change.

I thought the runs could get a little bit bigger and you could make some passes. It kind of felt like the Gen 6 car.

Later in the same conversation, the star driver also shared his thoughts about the upcoming race at Talladega, a Track where he has already won at. He is hoping to take advantage of the change, with the right strategy.

I’m excited for Talladega. I really take a lot of pride in trying to get better each and every speedway race. We just got to- I don’t know if it’s the right way to phrase it, but work backwards…This stuff is hard, putting yourself in the right spot on the racetrack, putting yourself in the right spot from the pit box and the strategy standpoint.

Bubba Wallace asserted.

Carson Hocevar also gave his verdict on the new rule package

After the race Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar also talked about then new rule package and asserted that the changes made racing more fun. One key point he noticed was how dirty air became more significant and how no new drivers were able to join the regular contenders with the change.

I thought it was fun. Yeah, it was fine. I thought it was fun, and I just felt like dirty air mattered more or was more difficult. I don’t know if it was better or not, but I didn’t complain. We were up front, so same contenders were kind of up front no matter what, either package.

Carson Hocevar said.

The comments from the youngster seems to be on point and something many in the community would agree with. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the garage when they use the package for the second time, in the chase race at Talladega.
