The 2025 NASCAR Cup season will mark the chapter of another chapter in the life of Ford team RFK Racing. They are set to field a third car, the No:60 Ford Mustang for ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver Ryan Preece. It was a surprise decision from the team, considering the last two years has been really disciplining for the veteran racer.
Brad Keselowski, the 2012 Cup champion and co-owner of the team, has recently explained the reason behind signing Ryan Preece. He pointed out that the reigning champion and his ex-teammate Joey Logano went through a similar phase when he was dropped by Joe Gibbs Racing. Keselowski believes the success of Logano is a testament to drivers needing to be in the right situation to thrive.
While further talking about the point, he pointed out that even the best driver would struggle to perform when they are not in the right car and right situation. He believes Preece has the talent and work ethic to be successful given the right opportunity.
Ryan Preece is really excited about the RFK opportunity
The ex-SHR driver seems really excited about the new opportunity coming his way and is eager for what is coming his way, considering they have been really strong in the Next-Gen era. This brings a great opportunity to succeed in the sport for Preece, but along with it comes the pressure of expectations.
The comments from Keselowski and Preece shows the level of confidence RFK has on signing the struggling racer. The later can’t afford to perform worse than two teammates and has to get back to winning ways to secure his long-term stay in the sport.
