Austin Cindric shared his 2021 Indianapolis 500 experience where he witnessed one of the highlights as a motorsport spectator, where one of his childhood idols Helio Castroneves, who also races for Team Penske, won his 4th Indy 500 and added that it is interesting for him to realize he will not able to watch it this year as he has cup series race scheduled around the same time.

“Last year, I got to see my hero growing up, Helio Castroneves win his fourth Indy 500, and that was a pretty cool way to close that chapter of my life of being a spectator of that race. To think I’m not going to get to go this year because I’ll be racing in Charlotte (for Cup’s Coca Cola 600 later that evening) is pretty crazy,” Austin Cindric said.

Austin Cindric went on to say that his mentality now on his future at Indy 500 is to either go there as a spectator because he lost his job or enter the race. Austin Cindric reiterated that he wants to race in the Indy 500 someday in his career.

“But my mentality now is this: the next time I’m at the Indy 500 on race day, it’s either going to be because I’m out of a job, or I’m entered in the race. I want to do that someday at some point in my career,” says Austin Cindric.
