‘I’m a decent road racer,’ Kyle Busch has high hopes for EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA

Kyle Busch
Kyle Busch who currently races for Joe Gibbs Racing in his No.18 Toyota Camry and will be returning to road course racing at COTA. Kyle Busch already has 4 road course wins under his belt. This will be his first road course this year as well as NASCAR’s.
Kyle Busch has by far had an amazing season this year as he performed exceptionally well in both Cup Series and Truck Series. He has achieved 3 top 5’s and 3 top 10’s in both Truck and Cup Series put together with just one disqualification this season at last weeks’ Folds of Honor Quiktrip 500.
With 5 Cup Series races down and with just one disqualification out of those, Kyle Busch is all set to take on this weekends’ Echopark Automotive Texas Grand Prix on COTA. But the conditions are different from that of the previous year when he last raced at Austin. It was rainy whereas this year it is warm and sunny. He ended up at P10 last year with Chase Elliot winning it.
“I’ve always enjoyed the road racing,” says Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch says that he has always fancied racing on road courses and feels like he is pretty good at road racing and that there were only 2 road courses – Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen which felt like an off-week and he got to learn much more about the tracks and also got better at it over time.
“I’ve always enjoyed the road racing, back years ago, when we had two on the schedule – Sonoma and Watkins Glen – it was kind of fun because it was like an off-week. You would go and enjoy the experience and try to learn and get better at it each time that you would do it,” said Kyle Busch.
He also further added saying that now that there are 6 of them road courses in the schedule for 2022, it is about time that he put everything he could learn out there this weekend. He kind of seems unhappy with the number of road courses in the schedule but also thinks that it is necessary and concluded by saying that he thinks he’s a pretty good road-racer and that it will be showcased this Sunday.
“But now that there are six of them on the schedule, it’s definitely more loaded towards needing to be good at it — not wanting but needing with the amount of road-course races we have. I feel like I’m a decent road racer and would love to have a chance to showcase that here on Sunday,” added Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch and Alex Bowman crashes at COTA in Truck Series event

During this weeks’ Truck Series race at COTA, Kyle Busch, Alex Bowman, and Stewart Friesen collided with each other with Alex locking his brakes and Stewart stuck in between Kyle and Bowman making it worse for all 3 of them and it eventually ended with Kyle Busch losing after leading for 30 laps. It was also quite hilarious watching all three of them go at it.
But his incredible 31 lap lead run will be more than a confident booster for him than something to be disappointed about until the race track gets back to full force on Sunday. JBR will be hoping that the Truck series Race experience will be ample to give the team the much-needed advantage over others to secure their first win in 2022.
