Coming into the 2024 season the narrative around veteran Corey LaJoie was that, 2024 was his year to shut down all the haters and prove his worth. But what happened has been exactly the opposite. Spire Motorsports had to make the difficult choice of letting the veteran go over his failure to match his 2023 form and rookie Carson Hocevar consistently outperforming him.

Multiple drivers are being considered as the replacement of the Corey LaJoie in the No:7 car, which has long been their primary team and Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass has predicted who would take over the No:7 team. He is backing RWR Racing’s Justin Haley to secure a seat at Spire from the 2025 season and beyond.

Corey LaJoie was signed through next season but found out July 24 that he will not be driving for Spire. Justin Haley, whose performance at Rick Ware Racing has caught the attention of some big teams, remains the favorite to land this ride as he is not expected to return to RWR next season.

The veteran NASCAR journalist also highlighted the partnership Spire has with Hendrick Motorsports and Trackhosue Racing, that will be key to their growth the future. Rodney Childers coming in next-season and Ryan Sparks becoming the competition director will change the team as well.

Denny Hamlin blames Corey LaJoie for his lap one wreck at Glen

The 2024 season has saw Corey LaJoie being the reason for multiple wrecks that took out championship contenders and the playoff race last Sunday at Watkins Glen was no different. He caused the lap one wreck of Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin, caused by him making contact with Kyle Busch.

JGR driver Denny Hamlin, whose race was ruined, admitted that it was Corey LaJoie that caused the incident. He blamed the No:7 Spire driver spinning out Busch caused all the drama and that made NASCAR park Ryan Blaney.

It looked like the No. 7, Corey, just hit the rumble strips a little bit wrong and it shot him into the door of the No. 8. Spun out the No. 8 and stack-up ensued.
Denny Hamlin said.

The points made by the Joe Gibbs Racing star seems to be on the mark.  Corey LaJoie has made some huge mistakes this season and the Watkins Glen drama was one of such crazy incidents. It will be interesting to see how his last races with Spire will work.
