The world of NASCAR has been proactively involved in matters presiding inside the courtroom. While 23XI Racing’s lawsuit was dismissed in a district court, on the other hand, former NASCAR Cup Series director Jay Fabian pled guilty to his animal cruelty charges, resulting in him receiving a jail sentence.
In 2021, the 53-year-old was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor for cruelty to animal charges. The accusations claimed that Jay Fabian willfully neglected his dog, Jasper. He did not provide him with basic sustenance for life, which caused the dog unjustified pain and its eventual demise in the eyes of the court.
Subsequently, after three years of being charged with the felonies and demeanor, Fabian admitted to these charges in court and pled guilty.
Former NASCAR Cup Series director Jay Fabian pled guilty to three misdemeanor cruelty to animals charges (originally charged in 2021 w/2 felonies and 1 misdemeanor). Sentenced to 90 days in jail, which is suspended as long as he clears 5 years probation. Can’t own dogs.

The court issued that the former Cup Series director would be prohibited from owning any dogs. Furthermore, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail. However, he has a workaround to the jail time as the final verdict stated that his 90-day prison sentence stood suspended as long as he completed his five years of probation.
NASCAR reflected on Jay Fabian’s conviction
With Fabian being associated with such a heinous crime, a massive outcry surrounded the NASCAR HQ. With pressure piling on the organization as such an immense authority holder was sentenced to jail, NASCAR reacted to the situation at hand.

Following this, the organization released a statement and stated that Fabian was removed from his prior role as the Cup Series director.
NASCAR takes the situation seriously and will continue to gather information as it becomes available. Jay Fabian will step back from his role until this matter is resolved. NASCAR will have no further comment.

With this stark change, this marks the end of the 53-year-old’s half-decade reign as the Cup Series director. This has urged NASCAR to opt for a makeshift arrangement as other senior figures have supposedly taken up his responsibilities in light of the incident.
However, not much work remains to be done, as the Cup Series champion has already been crowned. Joey Logano won his third Cup Series championship last weekend in Phoenix.
The Penske driver had to fend off the rest three championship contenders in a close race as the top three finishers comprised three championship envies. Thus, making the race in Phoenix, a true championship classic.
