Hendrick Motorsports veteran Kyle Larson is set to make his second Indy 500 start next season. He made his debut this season, as part of the iconic double, and came out of the premier IndyCar race as the rookie of the year with a P18 finish. He would have had a much better finish if not for a few silly mistakes including the speeding penalty.

The Indy 500 entry also cost him the regular season championship, as rain delay in both the races didn’t give him time to start at the Coco Cola 600. But this time they have better plans, with the Cup series as the priority. While talking about the 2025 entry, HMS vice chairman Jeff Gordon pointed out that Kyle Larson impressed everyone last season with his versatility.

He blew everybody away this year. I’ve always been impressed with his talent, and it’s because he’s so versatile. It’s not just what he does in a stock car.

Jeff Gordon said via Happy Hour podcast.

While further talking about Larson, Jeff Gordon pointed out that Larson has showcased his capabilities in in the dirt, sprint and stock car racing scene over the teras. The same pace followed him to the IndyCar and this unique skill of adaptability makes him better than the most.

I think there are a lot of great stock car drivers out there. But I think for him to be able to jump from a stock car to a dirt sprint car to a late model and then go and get into an IndyCar and be good at it pretty quick – that’s a unique skill that not everybody has.

Jeff Gordon added.

Kyle Petty called out Kyle Larson over stupid decision making

Ex-NASCAR racer Kyle Petty was pretty disappointed with how Kyle Larson raced at Miami. He pointed out compared to the calculated aggression showed by race winner Tyler Reddick, Larson was making stupid decisions and it cost him the race.

Here’s what I want to talk about as we leave Miami: Stupidity, people making bad decisions. Tyler Reddick showed on Lap 7 what he was gonna do to win when he blocked the 5 car of Kyle Larson all the way almost down on the flat getting into Turn 1… We also saw Kyle Larson drive her off earlier in there to cause this caution. Three-wide, what’s he thinking? Stupid move.

Kyle Petty said.

Kyle Larson is currently seven points away from the cut-off-line and is in a tough position going into Martinsville. With his teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron, also being in desperate championship situation, it will a tough job for the HMS driver.
