JGR announces Ty Gibbs’ crew chief for 2025 season

Toyota giants Joe Gibbs Racing is going through a massive internal restructuring aiming to improve their Cup performance after failing to win the championship in the last five season’s. Denny Hamlin’s crew chief Chris Gabehart was promoted as the Competition Director of the team and the No:11 team was entrusted to Chris Gayle.

Denny Hamlin’s new crew chief was the leader of the No:54 JGR team of Ty Gibbs for the last two season. Now JGR has announced that the new crew chief for young Gibbs and it was also a premotion. 37-year-old Tyler Allen is set to lead the Toyota team in the 2025 season, which also would mark his Cup debut as crew chief.

Allen was supposed to be the crew chief of Taylor Gray in the No:54 Xfinity machinery for the 2025 season. The team’s ownership was also transferred to Ty Gibbs in the post season, and this makes the transfer more special. Gray has experienced working with Kyle Busch, in 2019 as a race engineer and him working with Adam Stevens helped him a lot.

Taylor Gray sees the new opportunity as an honor

The new opportunity is something that Taylor Gray really cherishes and is looking forward to leading the team to success for the upcoming season. It was his dream to work as a crew chief, after working with JGR for the last 10 years. He is thankful for the support he has gotten over the years from his teammates and mentors.

It’s an honor to be named crew chief for Ty Gibbs and the 54 Team as we head into the 2025 season. opportunity has been a dream of mine since starting here at JGR 10 years ago, and I’m thankful for the support and guidance I’ve received from my mentors, teammates, and everyone along the way.

Taylor Gray said in a statement.

While talking about his expectation for Gibbs, who has won Xfinity and ARCA championship, pointed out that the youngster has a lot of potential. He is looking forward to building on the pace the No:54 team had the last two season and is determined to get the No:54 team their first Cup win.

Ty has shown a lot of speed and potential the last two years, and I look forward to building on that experience to get the 54 car in victory lane.

The 2025 season is really important for Ty Gibbs and his new crew chief. The No:54 team hasn’t been on the victory lane in the Next-Gen era, and if they failed to win races this season as well, some serious questions would be asked about JGR’s choices.
