Daniel Suarez‘s future in NASCAR is uncertain for 2026. The Mexican driver will be leaving Trackhouse Racing at the end of this season after a fallout between the two sides. Rumors over the 33-year-old’s next destination have been surfacing in the field. Now, NASCAR veteran Jimmie Johnson has responded to claims over potentially hiring Suarez for Legacy Motor Club.
Suarez had played a pivotal role in shaping Trackhouse Racing. However, in the past year, the 33-year-old felt that he was no longer important to the team. This ultimately, forced him out of the door, leaving him with no options for 2026. Though, considering Daniel Suarez‘s impressive season this year, teams are likely to be interested in the Mexican star.
Jimmie Johnson co-owns Legacy Motor Club, a two charter Cup Series team. While the two slots are full for LMC for next season, there are talks about the team obtaining a third charter for 2026. Legacy had agreed on buying Rick Ware Racing’s Charter. However, the deal is now under a lawsuit, with Johnson’s team claiming that RWR is trying to back out of the agreement.
According to NASCAR journalist Joseph Srigley, Jimmie Johnson asserted that Daniel Suarez was his “great friend” in the field. The NASCAR icon insisted that the Mexican driver would be an ideal pick for any garage. However, the timing of such a move doesn’t work for Legacy right now, even though the team is trying to enter a third car next season.
First and foremost, [Daniel Suarez] is a great friend and somebody I stay in touch with… The real opportunity for any team owner. I would love to think about him seriously, but I don’t have a seat… I highly doubt timing is going to work out.
Jimmie Johnson said.
#NASCAR… @JimmieJohnson says that @Daniel_SuarezG is a "great friend", "great talent", and "a great opportunity for any team owner", but says that timing likely won't work out for @LEGACYMotorClub to give him a serious look, but the team IS looking for a third charter.

Jimmie Johnson declares Daniel Suarez a ‘well-rounded’ NASCAR athlete
Daniel Suarez has proven himself as one of the most exciting talents in the field. The 33-year-old even took the dream win in the Xfinity Series during NASCAR’s debut in Mexico. Suarez enjoys a massive fan following in his home country, that could provide the opportunity to tap into the Mexican market.

Jimmie Johnson reckoned that Suarez was a capable driver who can perform on any kind of track. Moreover, the Mexican driver is even in the good books of sponsors. Thus, Johnson insisted that Daniel Suarez was indeed a well-rounded NASCAR driver in today’s time. So much so, the Legacy co-owner hoped that he had a handful of options for next season.
Great talent. Very popular. Can really perform on any track, has great sponsorship interest. A well-rounded modern-day NASCAR athlete… I think he’s a great talent and should have plenty of options.
Jimmie Johnson added.
Certainly, Daniel Suarez is a good driver who deserves to be in the Cup Series next season. Even a move to Xfinity full-time would be a downgrade for the Mexican star. Thus, fans would hope that Suarez lands in a seat before the end of the season.
