The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano is infamous for being a sore loser, which the veteran himself has admitted to. The most recent example of the No:22 Ford drivers’ tantrum over losing a race came at the All-Star race week where he called out Christopher Bell for being aggressive, despite the JGR driver being fair.

In the recent episode of the Stacking Pennies, hosted by part-time racer Corey LaJoie, the Team Penske driver discussed his attitude. Joey Logano confessed that he always wants to win and for him losing is more emotional than winning for him. These factors play an important role in the Ford drivers’ aggressive racing style.

Yeah, I just think it’s there. I just want to win really bad, I don’t want to lose really bad. I think that’s really what it is because the pain of loss is far worse than the victory. It’s true, at least for me.

Joey Logano said via Stacking Pennies podcast.

Further talking about the point, Logano pointed out that everything he does coming into a race weekend is about winning races and that’s his ultimate goal. This demanding nature makes Logano a good leader at Penske, as his crew always work extra hard when it comes to clutch moments and his two championships in the Next-Gen era were the product of this effort.

When I go out there, I’m like I’m here to win, and there’s nothing. And I’m like that in everything I do. If it’s business I’m like, ‘Yep, we’re out to kill, we’re going to knock them all out of business.’ That’s what it’s like, that’s the goal, it’s to win at all costs, that’s what we’re going to do.

Joey Logano asserted.

So, does being a sore loser makes Logano a bad person? While some fans might say yes, but the veteran doesn’t think so. He pointed out that he keeps his competitive nature to the racing side of his life, and in all other places he acts like a normal person. Logano is seriously focused on being a good father, husband and Christian, though it’s hard to find that balance.

You can have that attitude and not be a bad person. I think you can still be competitive, but I think you have to be able to go home at the end of the day and be like a normal person, like be a good dad, be a good Christian, be a good husband. I also want to be the best at that. It’s a hard balance.

Joey Logano added.

Joey Logano explains his short memory about winning races

Talking earlier about his attitude, Joey Logano pointed out that he has a short memory when it comes to winning races. He gets over the feelings of success from a race faster than manty of his compatriots and that makes him more needy of victories.

For me, it’s that I hate losing. I have a fairly short memory when it comes to success. If you win, that’s great, but if I have a couple bad weeks after that, I’ll forget about that win pretty quickly. I’ll just want to get back to the winning ways.

Joey Logano said.

In his 17 years in the Cup Series, Joey Logano has started 588 races and has won 37 races. He is 35 years old and has at least five more years left in him to increase his win count, with the Penske Next-Gen dominance giving him and advantage over others.
